Best design tools

Ranking reviewed October 17, 2026. Shelf: Design.

This is a ranking for creators and founders who design, not for a studio hiring a design department. Canva wins the everyday job. Figma wins a different job, and it is second because that job is narrower, not because it is lesser.

Short answer

Use Canva for social graphics, decks, and everyday marketing design. Use Figma when the work is an interface, a prototype, or a file other people will build from. Use Adobe Express when you want quick social graphics and you already live in Adobe’s apps.

Editorial ranking

Ranked by how often this is the right first tool for a creator doing their own design.

  1. Rank 1: Canva

Templates for social graphics, decks, and quick design

Canva is the default. Templates cover posts, presentations, and simple video, and Magic Studio adds AI-assisted design on top. You can ship something presentable the same day. Don’t use it as a product-design system.

Best for Social posts, decks, and everyday marketing design. Check the Canva site for current plans and fees. CreatorGoodies does not publish live prices.

  2. Rank 2: Figma

Collaborative design for interfaces and product work

Figma is the collaborative tool for interface design, prototypes, and design systems, with FigJam beside it for whiteboarding. Open it when the output is a product or a layout someone else will build. For one social graphic it is the slow road.

Best for Interface design and working with a team. Check the Figma site for current plans and fees. CreatorGoodies does not publish live prices.

  3. Rank 3: Adobe Express

    Quick social graphics from Adobe

Adobe Express is the quick graphic tool inside Adobe’s world. Pick it over Canva only if that ecosystem is already yours. Heavier Photoshop or Illustrator work is a different app.

Best for Quick graphics if you already use Adobe. Check the Adobe Express site for current plans and fees. CreatorGoodies does not publish live prices.
