Best website builders

Ranking reviewed October 17, 2026. Shelf: Websites.

There is no single best website builder. This order is “what a creator or founder should try first,” starting with the smallest tool that might be enough. Webflow is not worse than Carrd. It is a bigger commitment, so it sits lower as a first pick.

Short answer

If one page is enough, use Carrd. If you need a designed marketing site, use Framer. If you want templates, a blog, and light commerce handled for you, use Squarespace. If you need a CMS and more structural control, use Webflow. If the site is a publication with memberships, use Ghost.

Editorial ranking

Ordered as a starting point. Read the line under each name before you treat the number as a verdict on quality.

  1. Rank 1: Carrd

    Simple one-page sites, on purpose

Carrd is a one-page site and it knows that. If a profile, a launch, or a link page is the whole job, stop here. The moment you need a blog or a pile of pages, move on.

Best for A single simple page. Check the Carrd site for current plans and fees. CreatorGoodies does not publish live prices.

  2. Rank 2: Framer

Design and publish a marketing site

Framer is the marketing site: design-forward, hosted, with a CMS that covers straightforward content. Choose it when the site has to look considered and you are not building a web app.

Best for Designed marketing and landing sites. Check the Framer site for current plans and fees. CreatorGoodies does not publish live prices.

  3. Rank 3: Squarespace

Templates, blogging, and light commerce in one host

Squarespace is the managed package: templates, blogging, portfolios, and light commerce, with hosting included. You give up some layout freedom. Check commerce fees if you will sell on it.

Best for A managed template site with a blog or light shop. Check the Squarespace site for current plans and fees. CreatorGoodies does not publish live prices.

  4. Rank 4: Webflow

    Visual development with a CMS

Webflow is the control pick: a visual builder, a real CMS, and hosting. It takes longer to learn than Carrd or Squarespace. That is why it is not the first thing we hand a founder who needs a page this week. Check CMS limits.

Best for Content sites that need a CMS and more control. Check the Webflow site for current plans and fees. CreatorGoodies does not publish live prices.

  5. Rank 5: Ghost

Open-source publishing for memberships and newsletters

Ghost is the publication: open-source memberships, newsletters, and a site, self-hosted or on Ghost(Pro). Rank it here when the website is the publication. For a generic marketing site, Framer or Webflow fit better.

Best for A publication you can self-host or run on Ghost(Pro). Check the Ghost site for current plans and fees. CreatorGoodies does not publish live prices.
